MEET YOUR NEIGHBOUR
👋 A Little Litter Hero on Saddlemire Rd
This week, we’re giving a shoutout to a local 5-year-old with a big heart—and a strong set of arms! Alongside Mom, this young community champ picked up two full garbage bags of empties from the ditches along Saddlemire Road, near the golf course and 18.
It’s a sweet (and slightly hilarious) reminder that even the smallest neighbours can make a big impact. As Mom put it best: “If you’ve got the gal to crack a road beer in 2025, have the gal to take your trash with you too.” Seriously though, don’t drink and drive and don’t litter in our community.
Oh—and if you see him out there again, please don’t mention the deposit refund on those cans… he just thinks someone really loves blue pop.
Have a neighbour we should feature next? Hit reply—we’d love to share their story!
WHERE TO GRAB A BITE
🔥 The Spicy Pearl – A Taste of the Caribbean
Tucked away on Pitt Street, The Spicy Pearl offers a vibrant escape to the Caribbean with its authentic cuisine. From jerk chicken to plantain fritters, each dish is a celebration of flavor. The cozy ambiance, paired with the rhythmic beats of island music, makes it a must-visit. Whether you're a fan of spicy delights or prefer milder tastes, their diverse menu caters to all palates.
THROWBACK CORNER
📸 The Cornwall Canal – Gateway to the Past

An aerial view of Cornwall looking south to the Cornwall Drydocks, the Canal and Pointe Maligne. The Dundas Mill is on the right.
The Cornwall Canal, constructed in the early 19th century, played a pivotal role in transforming our region into a commercial hub. It allowed ships to bypass the treacherous rapids of the St. Lawrence River, facilitating trade and boosting the local economy. Today, remnants of the canal serve as historical landmarks, reminding us of the industrious spirit of our predecessors.
